  • The Museum, founded in 1873 thanks to the activities of the Bazzanese Archeological Society, displays material coming from Paleolithic, Neolithic and Bronze Ages, followed by Iron Age artifacts which testify to the presence of Villanovian and Etruscan civilizations. Also on display are ceramic, metal and glass artifacts found in the Castle from the late Middle Ages and the Renaissance. The “Sala dei Ghepardi” (Cheetah Room) houses the Risorgimental and Modern sections, comprised of 19th and 20th century weapons and uniforms. Archeological documentation of the Iron Age civilization in the Reno River valley has mostly come to light from occasional 19th century finds, mostly in the form of funeral-related objects coming from isolated tombs or small burial grounds, which most likely indicate the existence of many settlements spread over the valley from as early as the 8th century B.C. The sites which have come to light have been identified as belonging to the culture of the Bolognese Villanovians. The Crespellani Museum also offers a rich program of educational activities for schools.
